Has back or neck pain affected how you live your life, your work or how you play?

Minor Low Back Injury From Working Out Lead Me to Chiropractic

I originally enrolled in college to become a physical therapist. I applied and was accepted into the program and was prepared to start classes when I was injured while working out. I had a severe low back, pelvis and hamstring issue that would not get better using the traditional methods of pain medication and physical therapy. I finally received relief when a chiropractor assessed me found that I had a short leg and mild scoliosis that could easily be treated by adjusting the lumbar spine, stretching the leg muscles and using orthotic support for the short leg. The Chiropractic approach worked. The Chiropractic solution made sense. Chiropractic will probably work for you as well.

My Education Road to Chiropractic

I attended Rockhurst College/University earning my bachelors degree in psychology and earned my Masters degree in Business Administration. From there I enrolled and received my Doctorate of Chiropractic degree from Cleveland Chiropractic College. Having an undergraduate degree in psychology has proved to be of great value dealing with the many stresses that patients encounter daily. I have also found that my undergraduate studies in pre physical therapy provided the basis for my future studies in Chiropractic.

Natural Remedies and Therapies Can Greatly Enhance Autistic Children’s Lives

My wife and I have 6 children, 5 boys and 1 girl. Our second son is a child with Autism. We spend much time together as a family, and helping our son as well. I am involved with many groups working to find the cause and cure for Autism, as well as natural remedies and therapies that can greatly enhance these children’s lives. I am involved with Brain Balance Achievement Center, a center in the Kansas City area, which provides brain based therapies designed by a Chiropractic Neurologist, for children with Autism, ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia and Tourette’s Syndrome.

Family Time Is Important

As a family we enjoy trips to Worlds of Fun, the swimming pool, Royals games, church and school activities, and just being together. I also try and squeeze in a golf game here and there when I can.

Living the Chiropractic Lifestyle

Chiropractic has changed my life and as such, I get adjusted not to just relieve pain but to promote the health of my body overall. Recent research has shown that a low glycemic diet helps control blood sugar and is linked to lower heart failure risk. Since 2004, I have tried to live and promote a lower carb or low glycemic index diet and found that pain associated with inflammation to decrease. Along with a good diet, I add a multi-level workout to my routine. P90X is one example of a workout program that I have found that helps the core as well as prevent injury which is key to a comprehensive chiropractic treatment plan.
